Finding the solution

In 2016, Taylor Wimpey first sought the help of UK Connect as they were looking for a reliable broadband provider for a development in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. As is the case for many other residential developers, no matter what the location, a strong network connection is imperative to achieve targets and build and sell homes.  

Taylor Wimpey were in need of a rapid and secure broadband solution that would provide them with connectivity from day one. With the larger fixed-line broadband providers, installation on site could have taken anywhere between three and nine months, hugely impacting productivity and time that Taylor Wimpey did not want to waste. However, although time was of the essence, this was not the only priority for Taylor Wimpey.

More than just a broadband provider

It was a whole host of reasons that actually made choosing the right connectivity provider a difficult task. These include 

Installation methods – Is the provider using network qualified engineers? Not doing so leads to untidy and unreliable installations. This results in multiple engineer visits required, whilst in the meantime experiencing loss of signal and little to no connectivity.   
Onsite reliability – Does the provider do speed and signal checks prior to installations? Not doing so could mean low quality connectivity and multiple attempts to get it right. 
Ongoing support – When network issues or new connectivity solutions need attention, who can support you? A lack of proper, dedicated support equates to time wasted reaching out to call centres and help desks, often to no avail.  
Quality equipment – Does the equipment really do the job? If the solution is not powerful and robust enough, it will not provide the connectivity needed on site. This will impact an entire development and everything that comes with that (printers, IT equipment, phones, computers). The technology needs to be enterprise grade, and specific for construction sites.  
Data and sim management – Who is managing each individual site on their caps in data? This is hugely time consuming for any IT professional within the industry.  

Taking away the burden

Ultimately, Taylor Wimpey were looking for a provider that could take the burden from establishing connectivity, installing connectivity and managing connectivity to allow them to focus on what they do best – building and selling homes.  

UK Connect were on hand to provide fibre speed cellular broadband, and guaranteed to get the site connected within just ten days. It was this successful installation that led to the present day, in which UK Connect provide fibre speed broadband on every region that Taylor Wimpey operates in, eradicating their connectivity problems and allowing them to build and sell homes quicker.  

UK Connect’s robust and reliable broadband solution enabled staff on site to instantly communicate with each other and customers alike. A team of highly-skilled engineers and a dedicated account manager at UK Connect meant that employees were able to work more effectively and focus on site and sales office activity, without worrying about connectivity issues.  

Continued growth

As the relationship grew, Hannah Cartwright Account Director at UK Connect, worked closely with Taylor Wimpey to solve connectivity challenges across new developments and regions, taking the pain of loss of signal away from them and allowing for much better productivity amongst their teams.

Prior to moving to UK Connect’s broadband solution, the sales team were constantly running into issues with losing signal and running out of data. Since moving all of our sites to UK Connect, these issues have been resolved and the sales team are now much more productive because of the broadband improvements

Due to the increasing number of sites opting for UK Connect’s broadband solution, Taylor Wimpey soon found that a group deal led to ease of service. This means that any network issues or queries, no matter which site or region, are efficiently and quickly dealt with by UK Connect. What’s more, a group deal was a welcome cost-effective solution, as less resource spent on network issues meant greater productivity and with that, greater profitability.
