Ericsson expands 5G for enterprise solution through acquisition of Cradlepoint

 On 17th September 2020, the future of wireless WAN transformed as leading technology company Ericsson announced its worldwide community evolution plan, which concerned the acquisition of Cradlepoint for $1.1bn.

The combined offering will create valuable new revenue streams for customers by supporting full 5G-enabled services for enterprise and boost returns on investments in the network. Ericsson is already an international leader in 4G cellular infrastructure and has now come to be the leader in 5G as well with 109 carrier agreements to date. This transaction unites the global leader in LTE and 5G for communications service providers with the worldwide leader in LTE and 5G wireless wide area networking (WWAN) edge solutions for the organisation and the public sector. 

The Cradlepoint acquisition uniquely positions them within the front seat to unlock the total transformational value of 5G with end-to-end intelligence and control that spans from the mobile network operator core to the enterprise edge allowing enterprises to connect humans, places, and things — anywhere — with confidence and control.
