As part of UK Connect’s Buy 1 Give 1 scheme, Persimmon Homes made it possible for students to experience an inspiring day of interactive science activities.
The ‘Energy Live’ event hosted by the RI was a captivating, audience-driven experience that explored various energy stores and their impact on our lives. With dynamic, fire-based demonstrations, the RI managed to demystify the complex terminology associated with energy, making the topic accessible and engaging. Pupils not only walked away with a clear understanding of concepts like elastic and gravitational energy, but they were also invigorated with a newfound enthusiasm for science and energy.
The highlights of the show were also presented as an ‘evening community show’ for families of the school, while teachers also received a CPD session to help them build skills and confidence to inspire children with practical science in engaging and simple ways.
Thanks to Persimmon Homes’ generous support, students from More House Manor and local primary schools enjoyed a series of hands-on educational experiences. Additionally, the event extended to teachers and the wider community, ensuring STEM inspiration reached beyond the classroom.
About the Farr Foundation
The Farr Foundation is a dedicated charity that provides grant funding to inspire school-aged children through STEM-related activities. Their mission is to raise aspirations and provide access to STEM education for those who may not always have the opportunity to engage with these subjects.
With the growing skills gap in the UK, particularly in industries like construction and the public sector, The Farr Foundation aims to ensure young people gain the necessary knowledge and experience to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. Founder and Trustee, PJ Farr, is passionate about providing opportunities for children who may not otherwise have access to hands-on learning experiences that spark their interest in STEM.
Persimmon Homes’ Role in STEM Education
Through UK Connect’s Buy 1 Give 1 scheme, Persimmon Homes has played a key role in making STEM education accessible to young learners. When Persimmon Homes invests in UK Connect services, a portion of that investment is matched to provide STEM-focused experiences for local schools. This initiative ensures that children have the opportunity to explore the world of STEM, nurturing their potential and inspiring future careers in science and engineering.
Thanks to Persimmon Homes' commitment to education and community support, students at More House Manor and beyond have had the chance to engage with STEM in a truly impactful way. We are excited to continue working together to bring more educational opportunities to young learners across the UK.
