Time to Talk Turkey: UK Connect Supports Guildford Homeless Charity

When Guildford-based homeless charity Footsteps found itself without a sponsor for its Christmas Day lunch, UK Connect was happy to step in.

UK Connect is sourcing fresh turkeys from a local butcher and adding a donation to cover the trimmings so that the 35 homeless people Footsteps will welcome on Christmas Day can enjoy a Christmas feast.

UK Connect Managing Director P J Farr explains:

“We work year-round with developers who build new homes and felt that it would be more meaningful to our customers at Christmas if we supported a homeless charity instead of sending them our usual annual thank you gift.”

“We chose a local charity because we felt we could make a greater impact and when we heard about Footsteps’ problem, we were thrilled to help out.”

He adds:

“The response from our customers has been amazing and totally supportive, which is in the true spirit of Christmas.”

Footsteps is a drop-in centre in Guildford town centre, which opens every Sunday evening to offer a friendly welcome, food and washing facilities to homeless and needy people in the area. It is run solely by volunteers who give their time free of charge. For more information or to donate to Footsteps, please visit footsteps.org.uk
