UK Connect at Wings & Wheels 2018
UK Connect fit super-fast broadband for super-fast motoring
Over the August bank holiday, UK Connect attended Wings & Wheels to celebrate the completion of their internet connectivity project. For two years running UK Connect have supplied ‘the UK’s best aviation and motoring display’ with seamless broadband, keeping the show running from below.
Wings & Wheels is held annually at the Dunsfold Aerodrome, and was founded to celebrate the long history of British aviation and motoring. As well as exhibiting some of the best innovations, the airshow assists fundraising for a number of charities; the 2018 charities being Brooklands’ Museum and Help for Heroes. This year, Wings & Wheels paid tribute to two great RAF pilots as historic Hurricane from the Biggin Hill Heritage collection performed a special flypast on Saturday to commemorate the achievements of Duncan Simpson (1927-2017) and John Farley (1933-2018), both of whom played a key role in aviation history.
The crowd applauded pilot Peter Teichman as he performed a victory roll in the wartime classic – one of only 12 still airworthy – following a reading of ‘High Flight’ by WWII fighter pilot and poet John Gillespie Magee.
In terms of motoring, Wings & Wheels displayed an array of unique and classic vehicles on the runway and iconic Top Gear track. This year in the sky there was a 5 hour flying display.
The event now achieves an attendance of between 25,000 and 40,000 visitors, and has become a prestigious motoring event
